Memories of the Mighty Mites

These boys’ memories are starting to amaze me. How can these little babies know so much? The other day, just after the boys came downstairs in the morning, Carter climbs up on the stool and says “We live in the ‘tate of Owe -ee-gun.” I was shocked, and then of course tried to capture it on video. No luck. But he did say we lived (when asked) in something that sounded very much like North America. The jury is still out on that one.
This morning, we were discussing what the boys might do at their grandma’s house today, since they’re going for a sleep over. Logan said “one time I went to a movie with Grandma Ju Ju and Grandpa Mark. It was called Happy Feet.” That was 2 months ago.

Silly Pits and Play School

Since we’ve moved back to Oregon, I clearly have not been good at keeping the blog updated. Really, I’m lucky just to get my email checked a few times a week, despite my husband’s best efforts to keep me stocked with the latest technology for checking it anywhere in the house. I got a Kindle Fire for Christmas, and though I love it and have at least one book I’m reading at any given time, I am still terrible at checking email from it. Time just seems to disappear too fast to take time to sit at the computer for hours, or even minutes, at a time when there are so many other things to do.
The boys go to preschool 2 full days each week (which we call "play school") while I try to work every minute they’re there to cover the cost of it, and they are doing fairly well. The teacher gives us a little report at the end of each day that tells me the main things they did, what they had for lunch, and a few other little updates that she checks off. They usually both get most of the good ones checked, like the “participated in class learning” and “was a kind friend,” but the “was quiet” has never been checked.
We’re taking every opportunity to get outside when the sun makes its brief appearances, but we still do a lot of indoor playing. I’m ready for the sun to stay out, though, since Logan is starting to get some real lift into his golf swing and it’s getting harder to keep his golf ball from hitting the TV.
The boys really enjoyed when we taught them the game “up high, down low, too slow!” where you get a high five at the top and then pull your hand away at the bottom before the other person hits it. We also taught them the “Here is the church, here is the steeple” game (which is a folded hands game) that ends with “Open the doors and they all run away” and its really funny when they combine both games and say, “Up high, down low, far away!!” Apparently, it’s the most hilarious thing Carter has ever done in his life, since as he says the whole thing, he can barely breath for laughing so hard. Logan just gives that "I'm so clever" grin he's mastered and does it as many times as you will slap his hand.
The "mommy look at me" is a common phrase lately, and they are repeating things like parrots. For instance, last night I called Logan a “giggle pit” and now Carter is sitting here telling me I’m a “silly pit as (I) type.”
They are starting to play more with each other, which is usually so cute when they sit in the living room side by side, “driving to the store” with an arm around each other. They also fight just as much as they cuddle, but I try to ignore those times. ;)
