I have officially spent the night in a hospital, for the first time in my life. I still have bruises on my butt from the hard bed, but at least everyone was nice! They gave me a menu for breakfast and didn't even look at me funny when I circled almost everything on it. My husband did, but he didn't complain in the morning when I shared my bacon and bagel with him in the morning. I went in for a "follow up" on Friday afternoon (from a routine visit on Tuesday where my BP was a little high) and they ended up keeping me!
Not sure if the latest has made it into the mainstream news or not, but as a result of the high BP, I've been banished to bed rest (with bathroom privileges thank goodness!). That also includes limited permission on the computer, so at least I have an excuse now for my inconsistent blogging. The cause for my banishment is high blood pressure, but don't worry - every test they do on me (and believe me, they are doing a lot) - has come back normal enough for them to let me keep these boys in me for a while longer. I think I've actually donated about 14 pints of blood for tests, and the boys are getting really good at their non-stress tests. (They aren't stressed by the way...they seem to love the attention!)
Basically, I have pregnancy induced hypertension, which could lead to preeclampsia/toxemia (and strokes and all that nasty stuff). They're now monitoring me pretty close (requiring me to visit the hospital every few days to get more tests done) from here to delivery. I was hoping they would say "you're good...your blood pressure is down and you can go back to normal." No such luck. Unfortunatley, my BP has never really gone down enough for that to happen, but a girl can hope, right??
We did have another growth scan on Wednesday to make sure the boys are growing. The last one we had was on the 23rd of March, and they were 2 lbs 15 oz and 3 lbs even. Now, just three weeks later, they were 4 lbs 3 oz and 4 lbs 4 oz. Good jobs boys!! Despite everything, they are packing on the pounds just like they're supposed to. They also gave the boys some steroid shots (by way of my sore butt) last Friday and then Saturday night for lung development just in case they need to take them early, but as things are progressing, I have a feeling they are going to be able to stay in there for a while yet. I just have to stay down (which is MUCH harder than it seems) and stay relaxed.
It's not that I'm bored...I have to say even when there aren't a bunch of people here visiting, I've got a lot of good books and puzzles to keep me busy. The worst part is that there is NO position I can get in that is comfortable, whether it's the couch, the chair or the bed...but thank goodness we only need to keep these boys in for a little while yet (one day at a time...one day at a time...)
33 weeks, 3 days and counting...

New pics, old events
It's almost here! We're currently 3 days away from the big 3-0 (30 weeks that is). I'm officially over the "honeymoon" part of my pregnancy, and though there was never really a time that I felt great, I would say, as the days progress, things are - as so many mothers have been telling me - only getting worse. I'm not miserable or anything, just incredibly uncomfortable.
As the weeks fly by and our busy life swirls around us, I've come to realize that I'm not a great blogger. (Though I did put the disclaimer into the first post, so really, no one should be surprised.) The past few weeks have witnessed a lot of things - some even documented with the fancy little camera Ev got me for Christmas - so I've decided to do a quick recap of those things. (As I went through my pictures to post today, I also found a few older events that I felt needed to be added.)
12/4/08 For their grandma's birthday (my mom), the boys put on their party hats and sang grandma a song. They danced too, but that was less evident at their size (which was accurate in the picture, by the way). If you're wondering who's who, they wore labeled shirts.
1/24/09 My sister-in-law Cara and my aunt co-conspired to throw a surprise diaper shower for me at the Olive Garden in Salem...It was a little last minute as far as invitations go, but there was at least 20 people there. I was VERY surprised. I still don't know how my mom didn't let that slip...I really should give her more credit! Here's a pic of all the diapers people brought...we ended up with more than 3000 of various sizes! That's not including the 3 Costco size boxes of wipes (1000 each)!
Cara also made an adorable Diaper Cake that held about 50 diapers rolled up inside (and no, we didn't eat it.) The edges are made of receiving blankets and onesies, and the middle was held together with bottles! It was so cute!
2/28/09 Cara (the very versatile and helpful girl that she is) and my mom decided that we needed a day of "decluttering" to find the nursery (since it was an office up until this day). Afterward, the office and the guest bedroom became one. Here is the bedroom/office about half way through.
There was a lot accomplished, but Evan was a little overwhelmed with all the women swirling about. Toward the end of the day, I found him hiding under the desk that he had dismantled, carried downstairs and put together again earlier.
3/7/09 My first baby shower, hosted by my wonderful sister-in-law Emily in Medford, was a hit. BJ, Ev's mom, had a waffle cone sunday bar, which is never bad. One game, pictured below, involved everyone cutting off a length of string they thought would fit around my belly. Thankfully, most over guessed!
Though, if we held on to the string, I think by the time these boys come out, all the string tied together may be just right to wrap around me! Hopefully not...
Well, that's about it up for today! Hope you enjoy!
